We get it, you're busy. When you sign up we'll be there to make sure you call congress during office hours. It's like when your mom made sure you packed your lunch, but instead for engaging in our government.
Our goal is to make your REPRESENTATIVE'S phone ring all day long, during their office hours.
AN ORGANIZED WAY TO CALL CONGRESS
When you sign up for a time slot, we remind you when to call, and you become part of of a larger movement. We want to make sure that a new person is calling congress every moment of their office hours.
We don't care who you voted for or what party you affiliate with. If you are tired of Trump's administration ruining your day with backwards ideology and bad policy, then it is time to ruin their day with a weekly phone protest.
BE PROACTIVE ABOUT MAKING CONGRESS MORE PROGRESSIVE.
The Weekly Phone Protest will focus on topics and legislation that influence congress now. We plan on pushing those who oppose progressive policy to change their side, while showing support for representatives that already do. This is not about being reactive. This is about building the habit of engaging in our democracy.
BE RESPECTFUL, BE POLITE, AND BE CLEAR
Staffers are not looking to argue with you; they are there to relay the message to your representative. They will treat you with respect and you should treat them likewise. Be passionate but be polite, no matter who they work for.
Speak clearly and be concise. Most effective calls only last a minute. We have scripts to help, but add your own voice too! Think about how this policy affects you and your community.
EFFECTIVE & ACTIVE RESISTANCE
The most effective way to influence your representative is by calling them. Enough calls can disrupt the workflow of an office. It takes actual time out of their staffers' day to speak with you, and relay your message. Unlike with emails or letters, you will not be ignored. Don't believe us? Read what the Washington Post or the New York Times has to say about it. Let's remind congress who they work for.
We want to have a new person calling Congress, during office hours, at least every five minutes, all day long. We want our unified voice to have impact. The only way to do this is by organizing all of you to commit to calling in once a week. Together we can influence congress.
